The UNAIDS Secretariat Staff Association (USSA) attended the Asia Pacific Regional Management Meeting (RMM) from 16-18 March 2009 and facilitated a  group work on the outcomes of the Staff opinion Survey (SOS) and the USSA’s activities.

The Staff Association also took the opportunity to hold one-on-one meetings with staff and listen to their personal concerns. USSA also held meetings with national (RST and UCO) staff not attending the RMM.

The RMM was held over three days: the first was dedicated to programmatic issues; the second day dealt with operations and HRM related issues; and, the final day was given over to the Global Fund MoU. The Staff Association participated in the full three days of meetings and led an interactive session on the morning of the second day.

During their interactive session, the Staff Association highlighted key issues of concern to staff in the Asia Pacific Region according to the 2008 UNAIDS SOS, and encouraged participants to come up with suggestions and solutions from the four key areas of concerns.

The four key areas of concerns for staff in the Asia Pacific Region were:

- Training, learning and development

- Empowerment and inclusiveness

- Transparency in change and decision making

- Changing leadership – Motivation

These suggestions have been recorded and will be reported back directly to the RMM participants and will also be included in the report on the RMM to the RST Director, the Deputy Executive Director for Programme and the Executive Director.
